May 25 4:00 pm Grievance Day

First Wednesday after the fourth Tuesday of May.  In 2011, this is May 25th.  Grievances may be filed in person from 4:00pm-8:00pm.

If you have any questions regarding your Assessment or Exemptions don't wait until the end of May to contact us.  The Assessor's is in the office Wednesday mornings or by appointment.

If for some reason you feel an error has been made in your Tax Bill either in the September School Tax or the January Town and County please contact us as soon as you get the bill.  If an error has truly been made we will have the ability to correct the bill.

One area of confusion is the difference on the Tax Bill between Full Market Value and Assessed Value.  Your taxes are based on the Assessed Value of your property.  The Full Market Value is the State using the Assessed Value and the current equalization rate to estimate a value.  This is not an accurate method to estimate the current value of your property.  The problem is that residences feel we have increased their assessment without informing them.  Whenever we increase or decrease your assessment you must be notified in writing from our office.

As always any questions or concerns you may have please feel free to stop in talk with us.  If we don't have the answer we'll try to find it for you.
