2nd Annual Maria Zobniw Day
The Town of Dickinson will be conducting and proclaiming their 2nd Annual Maria Zobniw Day on Thursday, July 21, 2011 starting at 10am. The event will take place at the Maria Zobniw Memorial located across from the Prospect Terrace Fire Station just off of Prospect St. in the Town of Dickinson.
Maria was one of the victims of the American Civic Association shooting in April of 2009. The public is welcome to attend. Representatives from the county, state, City of Binghamton, Sheriff's Office, the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Church, the Zobniw family and the Town of Dickinson will be present to honor the memory of Maria Zobniw who's birthday is July 21.
Seton Central High School, represented by Richard Bucci, principal and president of the school district, will be presenting the first annual Maria Zobniw College Scholarship to a senior from the high school. This scholarship, is partnership with American Civic, was developed last year and will be presented to a Seton Catholic senior on an annual basis.
