Project Renew to hold Flood Recovery Discussion Group
Project Renew, a Crisis Counseling Program brought to our community by FEMA and the NYS Office of Mental health, is offering a discussion/support group to bring people together who have been affected by the flooding of September 2011. The discussion group will be help at Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church, at 6:30pm on January 23, 2012. Nimmonsburg United Methodist is located at 918 Front Street, Binghamton.
Major events, such as the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Lee, bring times of change and uncertainty. Even as people move on with their lives, they may find themselves with feelings of loss, sadness and anger about the changes in their lives, vivid memories of the events of that time, and fears about the future. Sometimes it is helpful to talk about reactions to the flood and the effects it has had - even when people think they "should be past it."
The discussion group is a confidential and safe environment where people will have a chance to share their stories, and continue to find ways to cope.
