OFFICE HOURS:
The Code Enforcement Officer's position is a part-time position. Callers are encouraged to leave a phone number where they can be reached in the evening. Code staff will make every offort to return calls in a timely manner. If an emergency occurs, the Code Enforcement Officer can usually respond to the emergency. Business hours are 9am-4pm.
The Building and Code Enforcement Department enforces the New York State Building Codes and the Town of Dickinson Zoning Ordinance as well as other local town laws. The Department's responsibilities include:
- Inspecting and monitoring commercial properties for compliance with sanitation, sign and
- Landscaping, and other Town codes
- Inspecting and monitoring all other properties for compliance with City codes
- Investigating complaints and ensuring correction of violations by property owners
- Presenting cases to the Town of Dickinson Court for disposition
- Issuing permits for special events within the Town
- Assisting the Town Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals
